~56, but it's a hybrid, not a MTB, so the geometry is different. Still, ridiculous headtube hah.
Shimming should cause no issues, but Marin made a lot (really, a ton) of quill stems and other components as well, shouldn't be very hard to find a nice one - although most of them are long. -

Can anyone point me in the direction of a 24mm seatpost?
-
• #2704
Might be too late but I accidentally bought a 1 1/8 itm eclipse mtb stem (new) monthS back. It’s 100mm, 25.4 and silver . You can have it for postage and price of a coffee if you fancy ?

24??

Calipers are at work but it appears to be 24
*on closer inspection of seat tube it could be 25 which would be much more ideal

Looks awesome though! Lots of non original parts, but still looks amazing. Love this era of bikes where MTB specific groupsets were not quite there yet.
Regarding seatpost. Give it a quick clean or measure the top non-scuffed section using thin paper wrapped around it, then divide by our to get a more accurate measurement until you can get your hands on some callipers...

One from the back of the shed
Araya, Circa 1983 ......
This is basically the prequel to the muddy fox era, or should I say this is what muddy fox bought in and stickered up as their own.
Nice riding bike but need to find an original rear derailleur to make it whole again.

Doesn't look too far off the brochure but it does have Sachs shifters and front derailleur and Shimano rear! I think its been in the family since new but can't explain the odd bits and I'm new to the scene.
Thanks for the advice.

Nice I was considering the bullmoose! Very similar geo to mine, I just checked my Diacompe cantis and they're also 83.

Nothing fancy (it's the 501 version I believe), picked this up for a round town basket build.
Stripped it down and it's a regular BB thread, not that mad 24tpi one thankfully. Headset needed a full regrease though.
Can't wait to start the rejuve.

I had three of those Syncros and couldn't give them away.
Sold all three for $25.
Now they are back in style should have kept them. -

That looks awesome 🔥 Titanium i assume?
-
• #2722
Yes, @Retro_bastard , a Sunn Exact Ti. As far as I know a Morati build. The regular competition build was with Syncros stem and seatpost, RaceFace Turbine crankset, Sram Esp derailleurs and gripshifts, XTR 950 v brakes and levers. For the Tour VTT they were additionally sponsored by Sachs (Quartz groupset) and Mavic (Crossmax wheels).

Yeah i remember these. An old mate of mine had one at the time i think this model but i didn't even realise it was titanium as his was bright yellow. Bare titanium always looks so much better than painted.

Looking at getting this. From looking at catalogues I thinks 1999 https://vintagecannondale.com/year/1999/1999V1.pdf . Says came with 2.1s, anyone on here know if there is rear clearance for bigger in the caad2 mountain frames from that time? As far as I can tell seems to be same frame across different models.
Asked the guy who is selling who was no help at all so asking here. Cheers!

Bigger than 2.1 might give problems with the V brakes when putting the wheel in the bike.
What's the top tube on that?
I'm also trying to find an appropriate 1 1/8 quill or adapter. Is a shim ok?
