• I need a recommendation for a new crackpipe / valve adaptor. I've got a Topeak one and it's quite frankly shit.

I’ve now gone and lost my Topeak one ☝️. Still can’t remember what my original one was.

Talk to me about a better one! Zipp, BBB and HemeraPhit all look slimmer.

I forgot I posted this bit. I actually just bought a BBB one mail order and it’s massive. It looks really slim in the pics but the head must be 15mm across and there’s no way it was going to go on. Seem to have to unscrew the front of it, force the rubber bit over the valve and do it all back up. No.

So it looks like I’m getting another Topeak one because it’s the least shit.

  • They're all a bit crap, just whittle down a bit of hardwood to securely hold the crap adaptor of your choice onto the valve whilst doing as little damage as possible to the disc while you inflate the tub which will soon explode.

  • I fucked off all the fancy adapters and went back to one of those cloth-covered retro noodle adapters. The ones that look like a tea towel with valve ends. It is the only adapter that flexes enough and still provides the pressure.

Often double up with the brass presta-schrader adapter to reduce the issue of losing all the air against the valve when removing.

  • That will be fine for my HED but there’s not enough space in the cutout in my Russian disc. I think the answer is actually to find a tub with a shorter valve. Even 5mm shorter would probably solve all the problems.

  • Speaking of lame, the Topeak adapter is taller than it used to be. Not a chance of getting that in there. FUCKSAKE!

  • Zipp one should fit. Mine was perfect with a 10mm allen key behind it on a similarly sized aperture.

  • This has come up for sale, think it would be sweet with my Elin, anyone have any thoughts on the dent? Big enough to compromise the integrity of the disc?

  • Is it just a top layer? Vintage carbon wheels are risky by nature...

  • I have a Cinelli one (without holes!) I could be convinced to part with if you're looking for a rear disc.

  • Hmm maybe tempted, mainly interested in that one due to the Elin branding. Sending you a pm anyway...

  • Get some high res photo of the logo and just ask me to cut some new vinyl decals for you...

  • Can anyone give me a rough idea of what an old Ghibli might be worth please? It has some wear to the brake track but probably still has a few years left in it, it is one of these:
