  • I've always got on with the wide Tektros with decent cartridge pads (Kool Stop salmons if I'm feeling flush). Really easy in toe-in, and you can change the feel by adjusting the length of the straddle cable.

    Tried Shorty Ultimates and they were a major pain to keep dialled in if you're riding in muddy conditions frequently. They also use tiny allen keys (as well as the aforementioned pedal spanner) which inevitably end up with the bolt rounding off. Most others seem to get on with them though, so maybe it's me.

    Mini Vs aren't great if you actually want to ride in cross conditions - they have very little modulation and run too close to the rim.
