Taking it off feels like what it must have been like when Neo got flushed out of the egg sack in the Matrix

Will definitely use that ^ to visualise the role next time.
It might help.

Triple softshell for me today (base layer, thermal suit and softshell jacket)
Got inspired from you guys chatting about this and was surprised how warm this got. Would recommend IMO.

Get one of these. Game changer not just for descending

WTF is that?

Totally agree. Turns any long sleeve jersey into an insulated winter whatever.
I cut the back out of a kids puffa, which works fine. Bit thicker than the Albion burner, too. Rolls up into back pocket. Weighs nothing.
Wore it all day yesterday. Put it under bib straps and it doesn’t move.

hows this or the albion thing diff to wearing a brevet insulated gilet?
-
• #35586
Hah. Festive 500 brings out the worst in people.
-

You can take it off with one hand and it rolls up smaller.
Was it a @Chopsicle special? I forget -

It adds insulation to any jersey, while retaining the functions of the jersey. Access to pockets etc. Less faff than gilet.
I think the Albion one is too thin for winter riding (probably great for intended summer mountain-descent purpose). Get a kids jacket from eBay and cut one out. Choose your insulation thickness. It’ll cost you about a fiver to try.

I have some bubble wrap for sale.

I have an old pillow (non-memory foam) I could sell you

Or you could cut the back out of a brevet insulated gilet.

It's acting as a vapour barrier - popular in the world of winter climbing etc but doesn't seem to have caught on in the world of cycling (except on this thread)
https://andrewskurka.com/vapor-barrier-liners-theory-application/
I know the soft-shell base layer supposedly breathes but it is much less breathable than normal jersey material. I tried it out for these purposes but I sweat too much even when I'm not working particularly hard. I won't talk about my experiment with vapour barrier socks which was gross

They’re amazing to widen the temperature range of any outfit - summer or winter - for very little weight/bulk. You can position where you want (higher^ the colder it is) and pack away if/when the temperature rises :) I have one on every ride.
- really interesting when you pull a Burner out when riding, and feel how effective it’s been, and how much air cooling is going on

Could I chop up a brevet gilet and wear it under my gilet?
-
• #35596
Makes sure it’s a different gilet.

Are the Rapha bar bags any good?
They seem suspiciously cheap...
If they're not any good, a suitable better alternative?
-
• #35598
The one I’ve got does the job well
-
• #35599
Not sure they are any less/more than other similar sized bags.

Surprised Rapha don't do one in newspaper print.
I think genius. And then I try to take the thing off.
