  • M30 bottom bracket? I can send you a tool for postage if you want (from Colorado). Praxis include two of them with the retail bb package for some reason so completely surplus for me.

  • Oh that would be really great. I’ll message you in the new year once usps has calmed down.

  • Yep, pm me when you want it. Post is nuts right now. Just managed to get one bike project done last week, parts for the other one are lost in the system.. will probably show up in January.

  • These are on their way to me. $220 shipped to me. That’s right. $220. 28h White Industries H2/H3 with Titanium freehub body laced to A23s. I suspect the rims may crack at some point, as they were prone to doing and when they do, I’ll probably have the hubs relaced to some Velocity Quill’s or whichever rim Boyd are releasing in 2021.

  • Nice Hubs,

I prefer the bulbous shape of these to the T11

  • Is it just me or were WI to A23s a thing for a minute? Especially with those Velo plugs.

  • what happened to the pauls?

  • Robbed by Peter.

  • Phil Wood’s ya mean? Sold them pretty quickly. 24h front and rear was a weird spoke count. Felt pretty flexy under my mass. They were also Shimano and I was going to 12sp Campag. Freehub bodies weren’t being manufactured, were sold out and also cost $175.00. Was a no brainier to move them on.

  • This bike has reached peak NAHBS. These wheels are really lovely to ride. Eliminated the chain slap I was having with the Zonda’s too which was an added bonus. Hub engagement is faster than the Zonda’s too, which I appreciate. And they just look better.

  • and a pair of lake cx403? top stuff

  • Ah cmon @JB, give us a full bike pic with new wheels n fork.

  • I can’t bring myself to do it with this 5° stem 😂 when I have replaced it with an 8° I’ll take a photo 😎

  • Ugly carry everything mode. But just finished the f500 and thought I’d get over the vanity of disliking my stem.

  • Ain't ugly at all, quite like those Nitto stems, would rather see a bike that's used than a show pony or a wall hanger.

  • Nice. I for one am very happy to see the Zondas gone.

I doubt you'd go for one but looks like you could use a side-loading cage on the DT.

  • I really, really like it, too, it’s gorgeous, but at 5°, it puts my bars too high (fit wise) and I hate the way it looks.

  • Don’t really need them tbh. These work just fine.

  • Fair enough. I have a few stems in the parts bin to try when my Varonha arrives (will give each a go before I commit to buying one that will reflect the quality of the frame, both functionally and aesthetically).

  • Really think these wheels are much more in keeping with the build, finished it off nicely for me. DT Swiss do some really nice rim brake rims that may be worth looking at if you do end up getting them rebuilt.

Maybe just a nice campag chainset now but 🤷🏻‍♂️ Also liked the skinnier stem.

  • @TM yeah, still need to find the budget for the cranks.

Agree re the wheels. These A23s are actually very nice to ride. I’ve read really mixed things about DTs current rims that I’d consider buying, so I’ll probably steer clear. I think velocity rims are still made in the US, which would be more in keeping with the build, so will probably go for quill’s when these rims die. Loads of life left though.

  • Hadn’t actually come across the quill, look great. Am sure the A23 will hold out fine.

Out of interest what was the negative feedback on DT? We’ve been doing more and more recently, keen to hear of any downfalls.

What will you do re stem? Custom tig ti once you’ve settled on position?

  • Probably just get a sim works again. Or a deda superleggero RS.

Some comments about the RR411 here from cycle clinic.

  • Production moved from Australia to the USA. The Australian rims had a drilled rim bed and Velo Plugs - lighter then rim tape. The USA rims had a redesigned bead hook and non drilled rim bed to make them tubeless ready and suffered quality issues. Around this time more manufacturers also started offering the 'wide' rim. HPlus Son Archtype arrived in the market.
