Was ex display via eBay- was tempted to get a grey import rx100V but figured I’d try the cheaper option before committing.
Awful colours was an exaggeration-I just found that occasionally the colour balance would be off or the white balance would be off and if the jpgs were transferred thru the app to the phone they needed a fair bit of work to look ok. That said I just had a look thru old RX100 photos and they’re all quite ok so maybe I’ve thought it up to be a bigger problem than it was?
This was on a RX100iii and I have a A7ii which performs much better so perhaps it was just old sensor / chip / colour science etc. I think if you went with a newer one - perhaps a 5 or 5A/va then it blow most things out the waterXf10 / the older model it replaced X70- APSC sensor 28mm fixed lens, basically a dumbed down X100 (no viewfinder, fixed screen) seems a good candidate and should be fairly comparable in size to a RX100
if you're patient you can find a deal - I got a Rx100 mk3 for £200 - that said I hated sony's awful colours and the autofocus was frustrating at points. Picked up a G5x mk1 instead, which has been great, no better autofocus but colours are much better and touch/flip screen at small size expense. Thinking about picking up a XF10 when somewhere has them back in stock
