Random Royal story. One of my wife's colleagues, a man in his 60s, is a good personal friend of the Queen. As in the Queen's staff will call him up and invite him round for a game of Scrabble and a glass of wine a few times a year. They met at an event decades ago and just hit it off. He's fairly posh but not blue blooded. He's a marine engineer by career.
Not an interesting story in itself but it's interesting how disconnected and distant the Queen's private life is...to the point that it feels weird to me to think that she might enjoy a glass of wine and a board game with a mate.
