  • I think manufacturers exaggerate seat tube angles to avoid extreme overlap. My top tube will be 515mm effective. Slackening the seat tube angle will result in a lot more overlap than what I would see as rideable.

  • 76st/74ht

  • 75st/74ht.

  • 75st/73ht

  • 76st/73ht but 495mm top tube. basically 48cm cannondale track

  • think manufacturers exaggerate seat tube angles to avoid extreme overlap.

Do you mean head tube angle?

I’m saying slacken the seat tube angle, which IMHO more important in the grand scheme of thing.

  • Why all this faffing around getting a custom frame if you’re just making it up as you go along and don’t really know exactly what you want.
Not having a go or anything, just figure you’d have more fun just getting a frame and riding it and going through the custom process when you’re a little older and wiser....
I’m 35 and still not grown up enough to know what I’d want from a custom frame.

  • Actually kinda both. the cannondale track, argon 18 electron, dolan pre cursa have steeper seat tubes in their smallest size. Some do exaggerate the slack of the head tube though.

  • I wanted something with steep angles. But I asked the forum for their opinions about it and got fucked.

  • I guess I'll settle with this. Sorry to the guys who actually wanted to know how a 77/75 would ride :/

  • You didn’t get fucked at all dude, you got honest advice from people who know more than you. That’s why you asked isn’t it?

  • i felt like i was being judged. i dont know man. i feel socially akward. ;c

  • whatever, I'll just create a new thread once i get to place my order and get a few pics of the frame.

The steeper seat tube is exaggerated to fit smaller riders, which was the old conventional wisdom of the past.

Modern bike nowadays tend to keep a consistent seat tube angle in all sizes to allow everyone almost equal level of adjustment.

My (and probably others) concern is the steep 77 degrees seat tube that serve little to no purpose other than a slammed look of the rear wheel being close to the seat tube, it look awesome, but it gonna be very hard to provide a good range of adjustment should you wish to do.

I’d ignore dancing james comment as it was a bit crass.

  • still nothing from @cake

  • Anything you want from him?

  • Just cake, thank you.

  • He only rides a track bike. He will have some good input.

  • He'll talk you out of this 45mm BB drop for sure, he knows about these things.

  • Nah, just keep asking questions. Most people here have nothing better to do..ahem...
    @amey

  • You are not being judged, you are receiving the criticism of your plans that you requested. Some is constructive, some less so, this is a forum on the mighty Internet! You've moderated your initial plans which WERE extreme, so you have listened.

  • If your looking to future proof these are the kinds of numbers you sound be hitting-
