  • I had those bars for about two weeks and then put drops and Tektro brakes on there tyvm. Also. Ed. It was 2012. Let it go my dude.

  • When you say this will be an everyday bike, how long will you be riding it for each day? 'They' say that anyone can ride pretty much any bike for about half an hour as the human body is quite adaptable like that. Personally (assuming it was the correct size) I would not want to ride this bike for more than half an hour as it would suck hard.
Even with a 25mm setback seatpost your weight will still be too far forward and you'd be using your quads almost exclusively. Also, your hands, wrists and shoulders will hurt and even if you're a tough guy and you can take it, it'll still be wasted energy.
If it's an everyday bike as in riding a couple of miles to college, work, partners house, pub, whatever; it may well be a total blast; if not still unnecessarily awkward...

  • I had one of this vigorelli steel and it was the best track bike i ever had. so much more fun to ride then the alu triple triangle i posted before. i think that the fact that a bike to be fun in the street have to be super step stiff and with no clearance is a false myth. especially the front end of the vigorelli with a 72.5 and a 43mm rake fork was amazing the rear with 75 degrees was still too step and i needed a seat post with setback .

  • I don’t have a set time to how much I ride everyday. Usually I would ride instead of taking the public transport to go to places like malls or to run some errands. The actual ride though is usually 20-30km and takes about an hour or two. I understand why you would think that all of my weight will be on the handlebars. I have a question how much difference does 1 degree make? I have seen people daily Cinelli Parallaxes which has a 76 st angle (size xs) and it’s ok for them. Even so how did the person with the 81 st angle bike uses the bike as a workhorse and even go on tour in Paris even when all his weight is uncomfortably on the handlebars?

  • 1° equates to roughly 1cm of reach.

I’m sorry, I really don’t think you’re going to find the answer you’re looking for here. If you want a good bike, just copy the geometry of a good bike. I can’t quite comprehend why you have your heart set on this ‘crazy’ geo. There’s a reason bike manufacturers use the geo they do, and it’s because they’re generally good bikes.

If you want something on the tighter end of the spectrum, just copy a Mash Parallax and be done with it.

A steep seat tube angle does not necessarily mean all of their weight is on their handlebars, because it depends on the other components installed on the bike. Also, some people’s physiology can require them to have unusual angles.

  • Well the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. If after a short time it starts to be neglected like the ginger step-child then it may be too radical a set up.
Having said that it wouldn't preclude it from being a mean track tool.
Please run a thread in the current projects forum it will be an interesting build to follow.

  • I think @abcdcbadabc is onto something. They should make a full production run in all different sizes as it sounds fucking amazing.

They could invest all their friends and families money into this well conceived venture.

  • I'll run a thread when I place an order. Probably going to change the geometry a bit.

  • If the price of the frame is not going to set you back massively financially, I think you should just buy it. You mentioned in the Mielec thread that you're young, so if there's a time in your life that you should be riding a bike like this, it should probably be now, before you develop the assorted aches and pains that will drive you towards a gravel or touring bike. It'll have the look you want and you'll learn what you like and what you dislike about the geometry.

  • £240 I think he said which is insanely cheap for a custom frames.

First I heard of going custom before settling on an off the pegs.

  • Probably going to change the geometry a bit.

In that case I strongly advise following @JB suggestion; copy the MASH parallex geometry instead.

  • In all truth, I think the frame material will be as big a problem as the angles. Large diameter alloy is very stiff and the harsh ride will be magnified by the small frame dimensions (less tube length= less material to flex). I suspect a small carbon or steel frame with extreme angles would be less of a rattlebox than a small alloy frame with, say, 73 parallel. I have ridden USWB pre lo pro time trial frames and a 75 parallel crit bike in steel and they were fine (I ride 22"/56cm approx), the two alloy frames I still have are more relaxed, but still rattly bastards.

Note: I am the last person alive who still runs 23 or 25mm tyres/tubs at 100psi minimum.

  • I see. I’ll request for smaller diameter tubing. The top tube will be 35mm and the down tube will be 40mm the chain and seat stays will be rectangular. The geometry will be a 76st/75ht which is between the Argon 18 Electron and the Parallax in XS. Will that be a better idea? Btw I also run 25mm at 120psi hahah.

  • I guess I have to email Mielec again to change the geometry :/ RIP Mielec inbox

  • Btw I also run 25mm at 120psi hahah.

How heavy are you to need to run it at 120psi?

  • 31.7kg :D im basically a midget

  • The MASH Parallex have a 28mm rake fork with a 72.5 degrees head tube angle at the XS spectrum.

More importantly; those are old school geometry, meaning the frame designer exaggerate the seat tube and head tube angle in order to make it fit a smaller rider, which in reality doesn’t, and in some cases actually fit them worse.

  • Will that be a better idea?

None of this appears to be a good idea.

  • im using a 75 degree head tube to get a neutral trail of 59mm as I'm going to use a 30mm raked fork. unless 75 really does not work, which I do not know will or will not. What do you think?

  • 31.7kg :D im basically a midget

Your tyres pressure is ideas for a person who weight 110kg.

  • im using a 75 degree head tube to get a neutral trail of 59mm as I'm going to use a 30mm raked fork. unless 75 really does not work, which I do not know will or will not. What do you think?

dont change the subject. I have not had any problems running that sort of pressure.

  • “Less shit” would be more appropriate

It’s amazing when people with little to no knowledge try to reinvent the bicycle

  • It sound like it’ll work for you, my advice is to slacken the seat tube a lots more to 74 if possible; this actually will benefit you in the long run and giving you a wider choice of set up from running an online seatpost to a setback one.

Please note; I’m not a frame designer.

  • I don't think 76st/75ht is reinventing the bicycle. the Argon 18 Electron in XS is 76.5st/74ht.
