  • Rear tyre decided to blow off the rim after a hard (but flat? maybe I'm tired) 88kms today, evacuating all air and most of the sealant while riding, on a straight line. It had 808 kms on it (not Zipps) when this happened, so it looks like 85psi (which I put in last night and made about 50k with in Central btw...) was a bit too much for 28mm. When I got the wheel off to put a tube in, the lockring fell off??? Turns out the cassette lockring spacer is broken and the lockring won't screw back in. So I probably didn't torque it enough back when I got this cassette (some 4000km ago), it got loose and let the cassette out, which in turn broke the (outboard) spacer and damaged the freehub body, so it wouldn't go back in. Back at the scene I put the wheel back on without the 11T cog and called a car. £13 and a bunch of degreaser/brushing later I'm still weirded out by the possibility of all this.

F500-wise I'm halfway there with 248km left, I might DNF this year as it's getting colder and windier, and I'm SO tired from 3 days of riding. Maybe it's the flu jab talking, had it on Xmas Eve, don't know.
