My UAS memories are dominated by how crushingly embarrassed I was to be living the “officer” life and being treated as such by real RAF people. Like when I was called sir by the guards on the gate at RAF Waddington as I was dropped off by my mum. Or when I ordered crepes suzette in some officers mess and a smartly dressed catering person wheeled up a trolley thing and made it next to the table - complete with flaming liqueur - for 18 year old me.

Well it was actually an engine issue rather than with the airframe or systems, so the crew played safe and shut it down and returned. Could have happened any time to any aircraft, to be fair.

(Except that's a CH-53 - the Mi-26 is what you use to pull one of those out...)

Balls, wasn't paying attention. Here's an actual Mi-26 rescuing a CH-47

A brace of Chinook seen from the Isle of Dogs, earlier this week: came in from the East, wheeled North (as seen here), before heading West again...
Have seen something like one a week this year, but two is a first.
Also seen Apache, but heading in the opposite direction.

Gotta appreciate the 777's ability to keep flying with a spinning fiery ball of death hanging off the starboard wing.

They have grounded all the P&W engined ones now siting blade loss as the cause.
Scott's point was that the green hue was due to copper compounds being stripped out of the engine during its terminal burn.
