  • Figures where rising on the wirral so yesterday to avoid a tier change they closed the drop in centres . Problem solved by council public health.

  • A dashed seven makes sense - also dashed zero.... but I have a clearly-stated red line when it comes to commas where zeroes should be.

  • I wouldn’t be surprised if Church Street N16 was in tier 5 by EOD.

  • All the love in the world to your partner! That sounds like a stress tsunami! Fucking rough man! No advice just some anonymous internet support.

  • Thank you all for all the kind words and advice regarding my partner's father - that's what this place is good at.

By way of an update, he is a little better today and has been persuaded to go to the hospital, but I doubt he will be admitted. My girl bought him a nebulizer - I have no idea whether it will work, but you do what you can... We also found out that he fallen in the bathroom last week, smashed a mirror and cut his foot. He managed to walk to A&E and had stitches! She's arranged for these to be removed by his GP. Ongoing, she will be treating this as an exception to the usual "meeting up" rules as pointed out by @Jonny69 and taking all possible precautions.

    Btw my favourite comment was

Weighing up the risk to her and you, assuming neither of you are clinically vulnerable, you might get Covid, but also assuming you’re 30s/40s like a lot of people are on the forum, you’ve got a pretty good chance of it not turning into much worse than a mild virus as you’ve got age on your side.

I'm flattered, but between us we have six children between the ages of 16 and 31, I'm asthmatic and she has had rheumatoid arthritis for most of her adult life! It's all good though :)

  • You'll need to suck it up if we make any significant trade deals with India and everything is written in lakh and crore

  • Good luck to the father in law. We’re in the same position as you, my dads 94, had a fall in the shower two weeks ago and spent a night in hospital, tested negative on his release. We’ve been looking after him twice a week since March and keeping ourselves to ourselves for the most part, tough with three grandkids. Apart from my son and his one year old we’ve all managed to stay COVID free. Fingers crossed for you.

  • I wrote about an amazing steak and ale in this thread, and nearly about covid in the ale thread. Silly me.

  • Right, what I meant to post here, was how grateful I am for all your donations and support. I’m sure the Scrapstore will put the money to good use.

In the mean time I’m interested to see how things play out by January. Dare I say, this flipflopping tier system doesn’t fill me with confidence.

  • bootlicker keunssberg outdoing herself again.

  • zeroes

Zeros, lower case. Zeroes, upper case, means you should find cover or abandon ship.

  • Not seen a mask on anyone today ! National cba day.

  • Where are you that’s open that requires people to wear masks?

    Shops are closed etc.

  • Not seen a mask on anyone today ! National cba day.

Started yesterday. Dulwich park was teeming with people of all ages, and nary a mask among ‘em.

  • Shops are closed etc

    Not in London’s glamorous London.

  • Outside in a massive park?

  • The advantages of being outside are decreased when people are packed 8 across and 30 deep, within touching distance, waiting to pass through an entrance gate.

Not gonna get into it today. Edit-number exaggerated to make a point, but it genuinely looked like outside a football stadium at one point.

  • the "why am i suck in all this traffic!?" defence.

  • On the wirral but everyone was outside. Just old and young in mixed groups . Plus the ones in cars heading off to kill their grand parents.

  • It does make you wonder what sort of trauma those who infect elders over Christmas will have. People make blasé comments etc but that’ll be a real wound for many.

  • There’s always going to be people who flout the rules/not taking precautions.

Either let it get to you, or keep looking after yourself/your family/friends/colleague.

  • The people on Twitter and Instagram who are saying covid isn’t a big deal and go see and do what you like...
their tune may change if they send their grandma to ICU.

  • They won't be thinking "I gave Grandma covid" it will just be "Grandma got covid".

Goes back to the language discussion earlier in the thread. One takes responsibility the other is just something happened, no one could have done anything about it.
