France to be the worst place food-wise
That's a good point. Midweek start will make this a bit easier, though.

They should set up turbo trainers on the ferry a d you get released earlier depending on how far you have ridden.

I have a place; its my first TCR. Very aware that the veterans will say its not a real TCR!
They will have a point though; its less a ride across europe and more a ride across France and italy with a little bit of Greece at the end?
Not a criticism of the organisers - they have huge issues to deal with and any event will be a victory
Not sure if I will do this one; might do Transiberica again instead... -

It's not made me excited about having a place. I think it's probably more a case of not being excited about any cycling at the moment so I think I'll probably withdraw and let someone else get stuck in

The parcours for CP3 look insane. Need to start riding some gravel....

Suggestion from Chris White on Facebook:
Looks like it will be a fun challenge to do all CPs and get to the finish overland without using a ferry, and still be in time for the party 😉
Edit - I had a look at it and it's a bit long!

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get the mojo back after a break!

What's the dates for it? Not that I want to ride it, more interested to see if/when I might be in the same area.

27th July start currently.

No Bosnia :(

Decision time - who is in / out?
I can't decide! -

Will it go ahead Frank?

Anyone's guess.
Depends on how things look COVID-wise in the summer. They are planning for it to go ahead and have just sent out the mail asking people if they want to confirm or pull out.

I'm in, just submitted now.

I’m in as well
Have given up wondering what summer will bring -

Have found France to be the worst place food-wise for me
Bit late but out of interest... why?

I'm vegan and always found France to be really difficult. Doesn't seem to be that widespread in the country and options always seem to be pretty limited in cafes, restaurants etc in my experience.
-

Given the default French response to having to cater for vegetarians is to cook an omelette, they must be baffled by veganism.
-

Ah yeah... fair call; there will always be options but maybe not what you want to eat on a long ride and in small towns it might be hard to get if you don't speak French. Or if it's a Monday.

I had to help a couple out once who were trying to explain they didn't eat eggs. The waiter seemed to understand that they wanted an omelette made without eggs and thought they were nutters.

That, too, is reportedly getting better.

Or a Sunday, or a day in August or a national holiday or a day before one or after one.
-

I've decided not to do it. I think you need to really want to do it to get through one of these, and I'm not excited enough about it - so best to let someone else have the place and I'll do something else.
Good luck everyone who is doing it!

Nothing is open, ever.
Not sure what to make of the changes. Not particularly keen on riding such a large amount in France. Have found France to be the worst place food-wise for me. However, big fan of Italy so glad there is a large section there.
Long ferry doesn't sound much fun but afinish in Greece could be cool.
