  • Can someone point me to some whiskey suitable for storing for 18 years (gift for a new born)?

  • How flush are you?
Buy a cask of the birthyear and then let them bottle it when they are of age

  • Hmmm definitely not that flush...

  • Ok yeah the Forester is great, would recommend!

  • I seem to remember it being fairly ubiquitous when I visited New York a few years back. Not bad from what I remember!
I impulse bought a bottle of Bulliet earlier, currently enjoying a couple of old fashioneds.

  • Love them both. The 12 is the one I always take up to have a nip with my Grandpa, so it has fond memories tied in. It's a lovely whisky.

  • Yeah I think in the US it's fairly standard but less common here. I was worried it might be a bit four roses which I don't rate but I'm surprised, it's really tasty.

  • I had a lot of nice, very cheap bourbons and ryes when I was there! Would love to go back at some point.

  • This was good.

  • Got this, no idea what to expect

  • Lovely present from my brother and sister in law. Have a few different Nikka bottles here but hadn't heard of this before

  • Just looked that up, and it seems they've gone upmarket - I remember buying Pikesville from Gerry's when it was the cheapest decent rye available...

  • I've got some of that, it's inoffensive, shockingly easy to drink.

  • Ran out of bourbon but got some Eagle Rare for Christmas. Bonza.

  • Yay! Received some Woodford along with Luxardo Maraschino cherries, bitters and Vermouth. Christmas Manhattans ahoy!

Mrs EB received a 35cl Glenmorangie from her boss, so cute! Merry Whiskymas all

  • Currently working our way through these two, 20% off too, so worked out at about £70. Slainte!

  • On the Bulleit Old Fashioneds again. I've decided it's Christmassy because it's got orange in it.

Edit: my pal who works in fancy cocktail bars in Vegas gave me the top tip of putting the peel of a few oranges in a load of brown sugar over night and using the sugar as an alternative to sugar syrup. Would recommend!

  • Filled my own crackers this year with mini whiskies. Not had this before, it's alright but the fumes on the nose are so strong.

  • Jealous that you guys can get taster sizes of anything other than maybe half a dozen major brands.

  • Got some Bunnahabhain at Sainsbury’s, it’s been about 4 years since I had any. Compared to other Islay whiskeys it’s got a lovely warm, anise after taste. Just a lot less smoke.

  • Winnipeg
We do have that ^ , probably my next bottle.
