This thread is depressing enough.
I find the musings of upset posh folk rather congenial.

Looking forward to Daily Mail headline:
COULD BREXIT DIVIDENDS TURN
OUT TO BE A KALEIDOSCOPE OF GREYS? -

kaleidoscope of greys
How it started: TAKE BACK CONTROL
How it ended: CREATE A TITLE FOR A NEW SMASHING PUMPKINS ALBUM -

:(
What evidence is there that more people were infected in the spring if the number in hospital is basically the same?

Because the rate at which it will spread internally is exponential. Closing the border is too late for this variant.
It has existed since at least September. What is understood about it and when is irrelevant. I’m not sure why you seem to be bringing this in to discussion?
Anyway the SA one looks like it’ll overtake our Kent one.

I played a game of Pandemic like this once. We lost.
-
• #18684
Ha I mean we couldn’t quarantine V1, I don’t hold out any hope for VKent and VSA being quarantined.

Have to say, I weathered 2020 pretty well considering but the current covid situation has nudged me into a level of anxiety and apprehension that I had so far avoided.

We’re supposed to be talking about how shit the coronavirus is not how shit brexit is.
-
• #18687
what the merry fuck are all these people doing that's causing this shit to spread like this? is it schools being open? people cramming the shopping malls? kids going to bangface and licking each other's eyeballs?
it's worrying because we're as cautious as we can possibly be short of nailing wooden planks over the doors and windows and yet still this muck is getting up people's shnozzes.

This. I think the severity of the news was lost in Christmas being cancelled.
I said that the other day.
I think we are in for a shock. -
• #18689
Same. Can't see how this one isn't going to be much worse, meaning hardcore lockdown for most of next year until enough people are vaccinated.
-
• #18690
There may be some comfort in the asymptomatic numbers.
Not sure if that number will be enough mind. -
• #18691
Happy to post some out. Will make a limited run.
They are credit-card sized. Neon pink or neon orange. Super fiddly so won’t make many.
Also making a new batch of clints.

I guess what I'm getting at is that if closing the borders is futile, then so is pretty much everything short of a total China-style lockdown and permanently closed borders.
Which, reading that back, seems quite true actually.

I'll buy one or two of the plague island bad boys if you're selling!

I’m starting to feel similar although have had waves of it throughout. After a few boozy days I’m getting straight back onto the fitness wagon, running everyday and will focus on the variables I can control. I can see the labs I work in shutting down again if this strain spreads as easily as they have been saying, at least for a while.
Brexit turned out to be fucking shit didn’t it?
Nah, was always going to be more of a kaleidoscope of greys mate..
