  • Some of the loose sockets just have loose or missing faceplate screws, so they are an easy fix. And the CU, although old, does have working trips. So rewire might not be as urgent as first thought. Will likely still get the CU replaced and speak to the spark about a rewire anyway as there are a few interesting socket placement choices, and I want an extra circuit for a future shed.

New windows are climbing the priority ladder so have a quote request out with Anglian. The alu frames in the front bays are totally knackered. As is the sash window in the back, first floor bedroom. Thankfully it's not freezing cold, yet. But I can see that 99% of the damp (of which there is mercifully little) is from the knackered windows.

But, none of this is a surprised, really. Just shuffling stuff that we knew needed done around. No nasty surprises, yet. Our main bug bear is we just keep finding filth and disrepair that totally beggars belief. Like holes in plaster caused by teenagers, or layers of grime in the kitchen and bathrooms, painted over dust bunnies, etc. Still, if it didn't have all that, we wouldn't have been able to afford it.
