I always pretend that hold music is being played live by a band locked in a room forced to perform endlessly. I am mearly tapping into their endless loop of pain. Never fails to amuse and I refuse to grow up.

My employer's IT helpline hold music is genuinely the 'death theme' from Gladiator. Which must be telling us something.

Ha! I had some hold music not long ago that reminded me of the dungeon-synth medeviel ambient that guy from mayhem did when he was in prison for murder. That would have been some serious hold kudos if it had been.

HMRC hold music is quite moreish.

Moorish would be interesting, at least.

Capt Tom and his grasping family. Not a good look for them to be lording it up in Barbados at the moment.
-

Captain Tom can do what he wants as far as I'm concerned. His family not so much but the trip was a gift and he's less likely to get Covid there.

That my 11-29 chorus cassette doesn't fit on my neo2t, despite tacx saying everywhere that all campagnolo 12s cassettes are compatible. Nearly ripped my new derailleur off, as the little ledges off the back of the big sprocket (which stop your chain jamming in your spokes) bind on the trainer and stop it being able to freewheel.
How can I be the first person in the world to try this combination. -

I really like finally identifying a song without Shazamming it or anything. The latest hideous ad for Marc Jacobs parfum has a little bit of music in it which was twisting me up for days... I finally landed it as a Suicide track. My joy at sussing it was short lived when I started coming to terms with just what a travesty the ad is and just how inappropriate Suicide’s music is to the aesthetic of it all. Ruinous!
I’m aware that this makes me something of a grumpy gate keeper once again... but fuck I hate that ad!

These things. Always on a fast b road and appear in the middle of nowhere where no one has ever crossed the road and miraculously every time I go near one a car overtakes me just as I ride through the now narrow gap and I have to clip the curb to prevent being run over.

Have you considered taking primary position on approach?

You may enjoy this then:

Some of those are quite good!

with the car coming at 40-60mph?
yes, considered it very briefly, decided I'd rather buzz the curb than rely on they paying attention.
-
• #15193
Have you considered considering your road position earlier? Read the road for potential hazards so you can manage them?
The risk of clipping the curb while they pass too close and too fast has potentially disastrous results. Whereas moving into primary earlier gives the driver behind more time to respond and moderate their speed.

• #15194
I fail to see how clipping the curb is more dangerous than getting hit from behind by a inattentive driver, but thanks for your input.
either way, my point still stands - i hate those traffic islands
-
• #15195
Have you considered cycle training?
-
• #15196
Totally agree those islands can present a difficulty, but can help vulnerable pedestrians.
Clip the kerb while someone is passing too close and too fast with no room to take evasive action. What could possibly go wrong?

Jesus wept. Fortunately it wasn't as drawn out as some other recent experiences, but still fairly farcical that you have to ring up every bloody year to get your quote price down.
