yes, considered it very briefly, decided I'd rather buzz the curb than rely on they paying attention.

Have you considered considering your road position earlier? Read the road for potential hazards so you can manage them?
The risk of clipping the curb while they pass too close and too fast has potentially disastrous results. Whereas moving into primary earlier gives the driver behind more time to respond and moderate their speed.
