  • For now i have NW chain ring. i'll try with this and see what happens . I think that my gearing is still too high with a 44 x 11/32. in the future i'd like to buy a grx derailleur (it have a cluth) and use a 11/42 cassette

  • What's your intended use on this bike?

If it's just for commuting n such then that gearing is more than fine!

  • That's the plan but I live on top of a hill with some step gradient (at least for me) and when my son will be older (he is 9 months now) I'll use this as a dad bike with a child seat. But for now I want to finish it and try it:)

  • Finally i take the plunge and set the gear by myself and i it was surprisingly easy with a couple of youtube videos. it shift up and down the cassette quite freely. i had a first ride around the neighborhood and it soooo good. on my bathroom scale it's 8kg on the dot . brake hose need a trim and to be routed inside the fork but i'll leave that to a real bike mechanic. It's incredible that this is my first geared bike build and everything fit in so easily without any hiccups

  • Rad!

  • Very nice!

    8Kg is impressive.

  • Looks great

  • Super-hybrid

  • Thats all kinds of RAD!

  • This looks awesome. Great build.
I’ve been watching this thread closely because I ordered a gravel frame from waltly a couple weeks after you - and used this as a gauge for how far off mine was. Landed this week and it looks really nice.

You may already be all over this but make sure you use a copper paste grease anywhere there is metal on metal contact, especially if it is aluminum to titanium contact.

Normal grease is not enough to prevent the accelerated oxidation and bonding that occurs between ti and other metals.

Looking forward to hearing how it rides!

  • Thanks for the copper paste advise I did use normal grease. Most of the bolt I used are titanium as well but bottom bracket and headset are aluminium so I'll buy some copper past and put it on. I had 2 small ride on it and is really reactive and comfortable. The geo seem to work for me and after adjusting the saddle it seem really good now.

  • Looks like a really fun bike!

  • That was the point! it's like a cafe racer. i took the 2 bike that i had and tried to mix them together add gear and disc break and hope that the result was something that i enjoy, for now i think that i succeed.

  • That vig is fire!!

  • Great work!

  • This is great, you must be really pleased with it! That Pompino is banging too.

  • After 200km the bike have been setup by a professional and brakes and gear are perfect now. I'm super happy about it , it's fast responsive and glide over pot hole. the only thing i changed is the stem from 110 to 100 ( when i designed the frame 8 month ago i based it on what was confortable but after all this time without any cycling it was too long), now without the thomson stem the seatpost look out of place and i think i'll change that as well.

  • awesome bike - congrats! convinced me that i need to get a waltly as a winter bike

those discs look like they will chew through pads really quick though... watch out for that

  • Thanks for the compliments, have a talk with Amy at waltly she is very nice and helpful, the experience with them was good but remember to specify everything you want/need.
All this disc things are new to me , now the mechanic put some spacer on and they are powerful and with good modulation but i'll keep watch them because i don't know if the disc and pads make perfect match

  • Yep, bin the cheese grater rotors. Shimano (watch out for low-end resin-only ones), SRAM, Hope, Swiss Stop work well.

  • How are the wheels holding up?

  • They are great but sitting in my studio is not a big test for wheelset ;) i think i only rode 200km or something like that, small kid + covid limitation +winter is not a great mix to bring me out in the street. The weather is getting better here so i hope i 'll ride more in the next month

  • Today it was 18° in Barcelona (f*ck off climate change deniers) so i had to get out. I did 50km , started with 15 km of hills and than down to the beach, Barcelona really is an amazing place to ride bike. I painted the stem and seat post the same black of the fork and it look nice. This bike is good is stiff and comfortable, it turn on a dime and it's good downhill, it's not so good climbing but that could be me ( I almost throw up twice today) .

  • 18°

    sounds rubbish

  • It was amazing but it definitely not normal , yesterday was the hottest January s day ever recorded here. In 6 years that I'm living here every winter is shorter and hotter with just some really cold days , it's frightening
