so i bought some XT stuff off @whatfriends for the new bike build, maybe a bit prematurely but none the less it arrived safe and sound along with some onone mary bars
had that nice glow that old parts do, so i did what any logical person does and took their perfectly functional and nice bike apart to try out the new new
handlebars? with a combo of some dedicated shims and a beercan went on lovely
oury grips? gt85? slid on ezpz
whip the old stuff off? no issue
put the new brake on? ok it was a bit of a faff to get the spring tension right for the clearance but it's done
go to grab my lovely spare cable and it's too short, having only one brake on this thing i've been stung by my own hubris, taking a perfectly functional bike into the death trap zone with the winter solstice vibes still looming
I hope jeff bezos comes through tomorrow, or i might be calling upon younger days of braking with my foot till i get to a shop
the bars and brake look nice tho, a little outdated, a little quirky, quite nice, you know it almost looks exactly like a bike of 10 years from planet x? wild.
will be good to take it for a spin when i can brake
maybe i'll try to even up that spring tension in the mean time...
