  • Back when I was buying 23mm tyres in bulk..

  • bikepacking bag loaded, dangle mug flailing, 47mm tyre riding, 48cm bar using weight weenie bullshit.

    "gravel"

  • Got any left? MGOOF occupational hazard.

  • Like, more than most bike shops on the planet since covid. :P

Nah, I think most were killed off, taken to Oz or turbo'd to death.

  • This is where the Ti danglemug comes into its own

  • taken to Oz

    is it still 2003 there?

  • Been gagging to get another winter bike for a while now... first thoughts were a Soma Wolverine and then a Brother Mehteh, then I saw the Rondo RUUT Al1 and that changed my mind again... oh, on the hole carbon frame front, if I had that money to spend I’d be thinking of titanium instead.

  • Unlike the UK, the roads are of sufficient quality to use 23mm tyres there, and some of the bikes I have there were indeed being raced pre-2003.

  • OK I will give you my experience.

I ride a "XL" Brother Stroma and "L" Genesis Fugio, see pics of 650b on L. I have also recently tried a Canyon Grail and deffo Large size.

Top of saddle to BB centre is 837mm.

  • I nearly pulled trigger on Rondo Ruut which looks solid, but won't be any in country now for forseeable...

  • Decathlon MH500 long walking shorts, £17.99. Cut seems to be on the slim side, I sized up.

  • Decathlon hiking/walking shorts seconded, they've lasted years of daily cycling with practically zero arse-wearout. Had new elastic after about 5 years I think.

  • Hoping you're wrong but I think you're gonna be right... bugger!

  • Mason ISO? My little bro has a big bro and loves it, I'm tempted by one but think I'm leaning more towards a hardtail as my 2.2" 650b gravel bike covers most other uses..

  • Mezcal III 27.5 x 2.1 arrived and went straight up (no sealant) on the new WTB i25 wheel I had built.

Clearances are, um, a little toight...

  • colleage rates these, thanks!

  • That's not even dust clearance, let alone mud clearance

  • Disappointing clearance. Isn't the tripster meant to take a 650 x 52mm? Did this just blow up huge because of the rim/the knobs/hippy vibes?

  • :D

So long as the sidewall doesn't get rubbed through I'm hoping the knobs will rub some extra clearance into the fork. #winning

  • I mean, this spins but put some cornering forces into it and I'd be concerned about the sidewalls. It should fit easily on the back though.

52mm / 2" would probably just fit on the front. Any suggestions for 27.5 x 2 MTB tyre?

  • My list:

    47/48c tyres
    vittoria terreno dry 47c
    gravelkings
    wtb byway
    wtb horizon
    wtb venture
    wtb sendero
    donnelly emp
    maxxis rambler
    vittoria terreno dry
    vittoria terreno zero

    50c/2.0" tyres
    wtb ranger
    continental race king
    continental cross king
    continental double fighter
    hutchinon black mamba tr cx
    schwalbe hurricane
    schwalbe g-one speed
    schwalbe g-one ultrabite
    donnelly strada ush
    donnelly xplor mso
    maxxis re-fuse
    vittoria mezcal
    vittoria barzo

I haven't looked at it in ages so could be useless and it's definitely not complete. A mix of mtb, touring and gravel tyres I think.

  • Sure there will be a component of rim/hub/wheel/tyre lateral deflection when say, you get out of the saddle on a Spanish "25% gentle hill" on a loaded bike days in into one of your escapades. Make sure to try that before you find out too late and we have to hear about it from Twitter.

EDIT: Just read your comment below

  • I've probably eyeballed most of those at some stage. They're often out of stock in the size I want to try. Definitely saw Black Mamba in 650x50 for about £25

Specialized Fast Trak Control 2Bliss Ready
Specialized S-Works Fast Trak 2Bliss Ready
    Vittoria Saguro TNT Folding
    Maxxis Beaver W 27.5 X 2
Maxxis Race TT Exo Lining 27.5 X 2
    Vredestein Spotted Cat 27.5x2

  • You need a new bike

  • I legitimately really like my race kings in that size. They've well on a lot of mixed surface riding in the Peak District, commuting on road, weekender touring and a little bit of mud this winter. They were cheap too.
