  • The seatpost is a place-holder from the parts bin but the saddle height is more or less correct.

  • Nice! Those lugs really are rather lovely.

  • Very nice paint with all the black, makes the silver rims pop.
I guess you are happy with your brakes, but 7 months ago @willdman had a pair of the vo grand cru for sale, and somehow I have a feeling he might still have them.

  • Cheers - gonna wait and see how the new TRPs look when they show up before I decide about brakes. Good to know there might be a set of Grand Cru going if all else fails : )

  • Looking very slick.

Not sure what the plan for the Rotors is, but I've used this guy for small polishing jobs and he's been really good, and very reasonably priced. Pretty sure he'd polish off the black ano so you wouldn't have to bother with Star. Nice find with Star Anodising too - I'll probably use them for work in the future.

  • looks great. must be delighted with it

  • dream machine

  • Very good, those fenders look lush. What make are they?

  • Cheers, that looks ideal!
Current thinking is to leave the Vegast cranks black... the graphics are pretty inoffensive in comparison to the lairy nonsense that decorates the older models. Kinda just want to ride this bike now instead if waiting for polishing.

Star are okay... I was wondering if the finish might have better if the cranks were ploished beforehand instead of the matt shot-blasting texture. They're a pretty no-nonsense, industrial place.

  • They're PDW Full Metal Fenders, stripped of most of the hardware and with black struts instead of standard silver ones.

Website says up to 25mm tyres but they just about cover 28mm.

  • Very classy! Looks so good with that stem!

  • Cheers man!

Wasn't sure if I'd like it - I usually prefer shiny things - but it turned out well I think.
I'm considering using the silver Nitto M151F bars from the Roberts to get a bit of shiny stuff up front.... And otherwise I won't have a use for them and they're way too pretty for the parts bin.

I mean, compact 26.0's with sleeves and crests has to be the ultimate neo-retro luxury!

  • Just heard from Rotor and the new cranks should arrive today... amazing to get them so soon!

In the meantime, courtesy of Seabass, the pewter CK 2nut is now on the Dawes, so I can finally run a headset cable hanger and the wire travels in a nice straight line down to the bridge.

I also removed the fork crown light attachment, drilled a hole in the mudguard and used the Isen bracket left over from the Varonha parts splurge.

I didn't take any 'before' photos but trust me, it was a mess!

  • It's also getting a new chain today, the lucky thing.

  • Nice. The stems makes it for me

  • Cheers : )

I'd quite like a darker Rolls for it... and maybe some fatter tyres once these have worn out.

Salsa stuff is annoyingly popular these days - I paid about £80 for that stem (!) but I couldn't find anything else that was 7cm, 90ish degrees and 26.0 clamp.

It does have a cartoon chilli on it though.

  • Awesome, I partially owe it to you to have joined the Galaxy club. It's the only bike I ride at the moment and I love it!

  • Definitely not the fastest bikes ever made but I love mine, especially on holiday when it's fully loaded. It feels like a freight train on rails!

  • Some goodies arrived yesterday:
