  • He’s so far out the loop it’s untrue, he was on holiday abroad when they brought in the first travel bans.

  • *Schnapps was a typo BTW, but let is stand.

  • Ha... I’m dyslexic so often copy other people’s spelling.

  • Ditto Raab, Williamson, Jenrick, Hancock...

The cabinet is evidence, if anyone needed it, of what an expensive education can buy for the utterly average (Williamson being the baffling exception)

  • BJ filled the cabinet with people that would agree with him, not those that would do the best job.

This would have been an error in the best of times; in current circumstances it’s horrendous.

  • Yep - incredibly patronising and looked like he didn't give a shit and wasn't taking it seriously at all.
Every day a different member of the cabinet trumps the previous one for the biggest fuckwit award. They are so, so awful - lacking even the most basic levels of competence or empathy. I've never been so appaled and disillusioned by a government.

  • I had been cutting them a little slack this year for the unique circumstances we’re in, but I was swayed by this column on the weekend. It seems like quite a fair account of what’s happened.

  • Really awful times when Gove is best they have and you find yourself longing for the days of May, Hunt and Hammond.

  • *Schnapps was a typo BTW, but let is stand.

I thought you were just drunk.

  • Escape from London update. Trains empty stations empty normal police presence.
cat is OK didn't find anywhere to live.
Was nice to see London briefly dispite having to deal with estate agents. Hope I'll be back soon. Also negative on covid test.

  • For you rich the war is over.

  • ✊ I shall continue the fight in the hinter lands

  • I think everyone who was escaping to mummy’s with plague on board did it a day or two ago. Fuck everyone who did that. I don’t mind admitting I’m jealous and resentful of everyone who played fast and loose with our collective responsibility leaving me towing the line, acting responsibly and being further away from my own version of normality as a result of other people.

  • The initial panic on Sunday was crazy. Traveling today its vv quiet. The way its been handled is shocking.
Hope you get to see family after Xmas.

  • I hope that everyone who did make the escape while infected with covid, enjoy a nice isolation with their families. I hope they don't go shopping, mix with other households and otherwise take the piss.

At the very least, get popped at Waterloo/St Pancras on their return for unnecessarily returning to a tier 4 area...

  • I think everyone who was escaping to mummy’s with plague on board

A stark contrast to Eyam village where everyone self isolate and die.

  • Mate of mine is a manager of a pub in Bristol and said there were people celebrating escaping tier 4.

  • Hell is other people after all.

  • Sure. Let's believe a mythology built up over 400 years.

We all flex what we can to survive.

  • and those that came into London for Christmas for a few days and will go back up north afterwards ?

  • Nah, fuck London.

  • Meant to reply to @Acliff

I think one of the difficulties with COVID enforcement has been figuring out the correct/acceptable levels of punishment for infractions. I think jail time or heavy fines are merited for cynically flaunting the rules, as there are extremely few good reasons not to cooperate, and untold damage could result from it (deaths, hospitalisations, economic harm, further lockdown...).

But then there’s fuckloads of people who think that’s an overreaction. I suspect many overlap with the imbeciles who think drink drivers also deserve a slap on the wrist, even when they’ve killed someone.

All that to say I doubt anything will be done to people who come back.

  • Just me?

There are strong indications that the new hyper-infective strain of Covid-19 has reached Cumbria, according to the county’s director of public health.

More effective at communicating individual responsibility:

There are strong indications that the new hyper-infective strain of
Covid-19 has been carried to Cumbria, according to the county’s
    director of public health.

I’ll drop it now, but you get my point.

  • Now you're just trying to treat the virus as if it couldn't take responsibility for its own actions.

  • I’ll drop it now, but you get my point.

I get it and will be spreading the word.
