So grim, I bought every German beer from Kris Wines for an oktoberfest party I had about 6 or 7 years ago (yes I drink non münchen beer at my Oktoberfest parties before the German beer police come after me 😂) and the smoked stuff was definitely educational. Camden brewery had one on tap à couple of years ago and they successfully managed to make it just as rank as the Germans.

Yeah, I always prefer my beer to taste like past date smoked sausage!
