My understanding was the Medway towns and north Kent areas affected initially had one of the lowest levels of adherence to the lockdown rules last time round which is what was initially blamed for the increase in cases there

I can't see it being anything but this. I feel very sceptical about blaming a variant strain. I feel a bit tin foil.
