  • Been riding this about after putting kids to bed. Good for clearing head.

  • What pump is that?

  • is Fugio > Croix de Fer 725?

  • Possibly a Topeak Road Blaster.

  • Fugio 20 - 2020 model.

    Obligatory forest shot.

  • Yes Topeak Road Blaster

Sigma sport - 18£ can’t complain. Solid piece of kit.

  • Was very very tempted by one of these when we were closing down. They were a great ride.

  • Has anyone got/used the hub geared day one?

Considering getting the 2021 day one next year through the C2W scheme.

I've only ever used a 3 speed hub before so no experience of shimano's offerings.

  • I had the Di2 version so did @cornelius_blackfoot

With any hub gear they just feel heavy

  • Cheers.

Do you notice the weight when your riding the bike?

  • Yep had the di2 version until it was stolen this year.
As @amey says you’ll notice the weight on the rear straight away, picking the bike up or moving it, and the cable version can be a bit of a faff to get undone if you get a puncture on the rear (have alfine on my missus commuter and on a dad bike), the other thing I’d say is I only tended to use three gears, as the even jump in the gear ratios meant I never really used the top or bottom gears in the three odd years of commuting on it in London..

  • Its the only bike i have actually noticed the weight; more than the fact that its heavy its all in same place. Great on paper but don’t assume it will feel like a road bike.

  • Any Fugio owners help me with Apex 1 query? Or Apex 1 owners for that matter...

I want to get rid of chainset for purely asthetic purposes and replace with Rival 1 which is direct mount and then get a 40t from superstar components. I'm not sure what offset I need and Superstar seemingly don't know either.
All I know chainline is 45.5...

  • I have one, the 8 speed nexus hub.

I am torn. Looks great, has some nice touches, but I'm not loving it. It's pretty heavy, the gears slip in middle range whenever I put any power through the pedals, as well. Its great for very leisurely rides with the family and not bad for my short commute (mudguards mainly, plus the idea that the hub will be better in shite weather) but fuck it is heavy and sluggish up hills.

  • This. Despite some reviews touting it as such.

  • Interesting to read, think I'll give it a miss.

Last road bike I had was a Salsa Vaya which my brother has borrowed long term as I mainly use the mountain bike.

With the continuing travel restrictions I've only been using the Brompton in the city but Edinburgh roads are shit - want another big tyred bile that doesn't care about potholes!

  • Swapped the swepts back bars for drop bar 1x10 set up. Very comfy all day kind of bike now. Needs better gear ratios tho.

  • That's really nice.

    Probably worth adding mud flaps.

  • It has been on my mind, going to order some nice material in the new year and make some!

  • I got a Force crank with a wolftooth direct mount. If you go to their site the "gravel" sized ones for SRAM are 6mm offset 49 chainline.
Tough apparently the chainline is 45.5 so I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

  • thanks this helps.

  • Any idea why Genesis don't use replaceable derailleur hangers on their gravel/adventure bikes?

I'd have thought if your taking a bike off road you'd want the option incase of a crash, I certainly would.

  • My fugio looks replacable?!

  • Yeah so it does. All the frames with thru axles have replaceable hangers, I was looking at the frames that use quick release - the hanger is part of the frame.
