My bad, I meant BB shell width side to side (from nds to ds), and spindle length (not width). The reason I ask is that GXP come in 68mm and 73mm. See pic below to find yours.
You’ve installed the crankset to full torque: does it spin freely and without play? If yes and you’re confident at adjusting the front derailleur, then try adjusting the derailleur.
Edit- cloudy minded right now but from what you’ve written it sounds like it should be properly installed with that 3mm spacer, which is the minimum for that BB.
@Hjusth thanks for the help mate, turns out i hadn't quite torqued the crank to spec. Once I'd done that, there was a little bit of derailleur adjustment to do and now it's perfect.
