Did you at least win Premier League prizes?
Just enjoyed reading through all the contributions on the other thread.
Our place usually has a bottle raffle. In previous years the bottles were bought for us by customers and this was the the way the company divided them. The raffle is rigged so that all the managers get the decent stuff, e.g. bottles of whisky. None of them like whisky though, so they Google them and say stuff like ''Oh this one is meant to be pretty good, I will have to give it to the in-laws or something haha''. Meanwhile the rest of us get fobbed off with bottles of red or white wine with an average value of GBP 3.
Sometimes customers buy presents directly for staff and when that happens you can keep the gift as long as it is valued at less than a certain amount, but you have to forfeit your place in the bottle raffle. I got a crate of Stella last year from a customer so decided to stick instead of twist.
We usually get a tub of Celebrations/Quality Streets from our Manager to be shared on each desk of approximately six staff members. The Manager then comes and helps themselves to this tub throughout the festive period.
Sometimes the supervisors give presents to their staff but usually something smaller like some chocolate or some beers.
We also get stuff like calendars, pens, rulers, diaries, mugs, power-banks, first aid kits, drinks coasters, mouse-mats and assorted corporate shite from suppliers on a bit of a free-for-all/scramble basis.
Christmas parties, sometimes paid for, sometimes partially subsidized, always awful.
This year has been different and we have actually done really well (especially so looking at other forumers). Chocolate, beer, cash, vouchers, offers to cover food and drink up to the value of GBP 15 if you joined in the Virtual Christmas Meeting and sent the company your receipts. Although I couldn't stomach the last one myself.
Some of my colleagues have received some insane gifts from customers. E.g. a few colleagues received bottles of Lagavulin 16 and some received bottles of Hendricks. Again, the people who received the whisky don't like whisky so I am in negotiations with them.
I should really be more grateful for what I have received instead of coveting my colleague's goods. I really like whisky though...
Yeah. Tough times and I'm happy to still have a job. But when my boss knows I like ale and have given him bottles of my homebrew I get this...
