Showing us before and after is great, but it's the process in the middle I need to see ;-)
I'm assuming wire wool, GT85, toothbrush, but are there other secrets that you are willing to reveal please ? -
• #229
Of course I can ,Keeping the calipers whole I use a regular and small toothbrush with halfords degreaser which gets rid of most grease and grunge -

I then strip the calipers into bits and another going over with the degreaser.
I then lightly use very fine wire wool on every piece.
I then lightly used regular liquid brasso on the relevant parts-

I then used Mother's Mag very lightly on the caliper arms and brake block holder to give them a bit of a shine to try and replicate how I expect they would have been during the period IE Not a mirror shine.
I used the Mothers Mag sparingly as it is a very good product and can produce a dazzling mirror shine -

Thanks, there are a couple of pointers in there that I didn't know about.
The original-like finish especially has always eluded me, I'll try your method soon. -

A peek at what I think is this frame.
Have a look at this link - https://argoscycles.com/galleries/flickrĀ-gallery
Then click on Nov/December 2020 set of images and scroll down to nearly the bottom and I'm pretty sure that's this frame in it's Flam Forest Green paint.
It looks rather good.

Great choice! I also went for green for my Gillott. Figured it was time to bring that color back into modern times.

I need to find time to clean components as you're doing here and rebuild. Or they won't look the part anymore :)
Still need to send you pics of the stem.

That's come out beautifully.
I've seen so many paint jobs by that bunch in Leeds, where it's just think and ugly; your's is in a whole different league.
Dare I ask how much I'd have to pay to get a similar job done ?
