Does anyone have experience of dual-sim on an android phone, ideally dual-sim active?
-

Yup. I've had various Motorolas and Nokias, which are both close to stock android. It works well, and you can save the preferred Sim to call each contact, but it doesnt follow when texting. Currently got a Nokia 7.2 that I wouldn't recommend because of odd bugs, but my previous Nokia 8 was excellent.

I've used dual sim a few times, seems to work fine. Plenty of choice about which SIM you want as default for stuff. Only dual standby though, not active.

Worked brilliantly on my OnePlus 7. Although not stock android I imagine its basically the same.
The ability to tap the little notification thing to switch sim was handy, and you can turn one off when you dont want to use it.

Thanks for answers on dual sims...

Xioami Mi 2 lite, dual sim works with both being active, choose between each sim for voice, data and texts separately.
Each option can be set to one or the other or to be asked at the time of using.

I went with these;
https://www.amazon.co.uk/ELEPHAS-Wireless-Charging-charging-QI-enable/dp/B08F7CBYMG
There's two in a pack so I can leave one by my desk and the other at my bedside table. Apparently has fast charging but I'm not all that bothered as I'll go to a cable for that.
Can't complain does the job.

Got the Pixel 5 up and running, it's zippy and all that but the sound is terrible compared to the Pixel 3... So tinny and boxy, and phone calls also sound terrible...
I'd also forgotten what a nightmare getting all your data and apps onto the new phone is... Turns out Google Recorder doesn't transfer audio files which is the main reason I switched from what I was using before because that was such a major PITA... And I've somehow lost the back button on the 5 as well as the go back to home pip in the dock... Confusing, almost wish I'd stuck with the 3... I don't enjoy new phone day, such stress, so not intuitive...

Mine is still in the box due to all this

I think this is the gesture control stuff, you should be able to turn them off in settings or if you use a different launcher the gesture controls aren't compatible so the buttons come back.

Took me a while to swipe from right regarding the 'back' function but actually now much prefer it to the button the bottom row.
I find phone audio much improved over pixel 1 - it does depend where I'm connected. Some calls have 'HD' next to them in my register and they are audibly clearer than others. Maybe using wifi or something? Not looked into how it works.

Lol - 'phone calls' - alright, Gramps?
Gesture controls are so good. Takes a few days to get used to them but I now find specific buttons really odd and limiting. Stick with it.

PS - finally received my free headphones (Bose QC35 II) from the Pixel 5 promotion - they're not amazing. My B&O H6 (edit: H8) I bought in 2016 knock them out of the water in terms of fidelity and build quality.
HOWEVER the battery life is decent - lasts all day and very quick to charge if I forget over night. They have a built in mic so I can use them on whatever device I'm using to make speak - have been told I'm loud and clear (though I do notice myself speaking loudly to hear myself above the noise cancelling). Audio is fine for reference so I can use them for editing video as well, if not for a final mix. And they appear to have some kind of push button to select which bluetooth device they're connected to - though I haven't mastered this. But I think it means I can quickly push a button and switch to phone if my Pixel starts ringing or switch back to laptop if I'm on Zoom/Teams/Meet etc or back to desktop if I'm editing.
They also come with a hard-ish case with cable storage which helped on some shoots this week. I haven't tried Google Voice yet but probably will. And back to build quality, while the B&O are much nicer, they're a bit more delicate (and have a crack in the headband now after 4 years of heavy use). So actually having the plasticky/stretchy/flexible Bose is kinda useful and I won't be precious if they get dinged.

Not sure many bluetooth headphones compete with wired headphones in the fidelity stakes. The QC35 were the best in the world in that price bracket for quite a while...

I miss the Moto "chop chop" to turn on the flashlight, are there any apps that implement gesture controls or is it strictly an OS thing?
-

~~ The H6 are bluetooth. Albeit with much worse battery ~~
Edit - apols - may be the H8 I have which are bluetooth.

Mate, my work iPhone 7 is glued to my ear all day, it's how I get my daily dose of abuse from clients... 'Fucking arsehole' was yesterday's nugget...
I only ever speak to my other half or the mother-in-law on my phone... But yeah, instachat for everything else it seems...
@snottyotter Yes! Back to normal! Kind of... Not quite the same but it'll do...

Anybody interested in a well loved Samsung Galaxy S9+ ?
It's scratched and with worn paint all over. A few fine and smaller moderate scratches on the screen.
There is a hairline crack in the top layer of glass on the screen that you can only barely see from directly in front but is more visible from an angle (as shown in picture). You can feel the crack with your fingernail but not with your finger. It has been like that for over a year with no worsening.
Battery life is fine. Lasts a day for me no problem.
£100 plus postage sound ok?

Yeah its good, think I turned on some setting that means its not constantly checking for email updates etc that saves a bit more juice too.
