The MBK also came with a nicer fork/vertical dropouts in it's Super Record form.

Latest build finished, Sc61.10a ciocc frame with dura ace 7700
Also I've been doing some forks swapping with my cavallo and merlin which now has a nice wound up. The Cavallo ends up looking pretty good with the look fork

Didn't know there was a nice version as well - that paint is awesome!

Correct size shim and new seatclamp (cracked the old clamp using incorrect size + cans) arrived and it’s now rideable. Few bits of fine tuning and it’ll be done for the moment.
Waiting almost a week for that shim, you know 2020 has been a sh*t show when the highlight of the year is a tiny parcel turning up.

Isn't it easier (and better) to get the correct size seatpost?
-
• #128009
If you can find me a nice post in 30.4 I’ll buy it ☺️
But also not really, 27.2 gives you heaps of option and the ability to spout shite about compliance all over the internet.

If it's some obscure size, it's usually really hard to find a nice one (especially for a fair price), while 27.2 has 1 gazillion options within these parameters. :)
Edit: Imananimal was faster with basically the same answer.

Kalloy have 30.4, and isn't any bit less nice than that generic looking black post.

A lot of the parts are placeholders at the moment, wanted to get it rolling to get a feel for it.
Need an inline because of the slack ST + long TT so will get something better/nicer than the 3T once my bank account recovers from buying the brakes.

Fair enough. What brakes did you get?

Disc brakes. 🙃

Hi guys - asking for advice here:
I wanna turn this ALAN Super Record into a city single speed.
But i just noticed (stupidly) that it has the gear sprockets on it. Frustrates me aesthetically to have them there with a track/single speed set up. Not all ALAN frames do, in fact most dont.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114575963157Wanna what the deal is here, can you take them off? I presume they are welded in.
Any pointers let me know

Wut?
Do you mean vertical dropouts, as opposed to horizontal? Yeah, not ideal for SS.

ye thats what I mean - just wonder if they can be taken off - the rest I can live with

So you're bothered by these two small bosses, but okay with having to use a chain tensioner? Because you will have to use one to get proper chain tension with that frame.

• #128020
No they can’t be taken off with non destructive methods

Sell the fragile Alan and buy a suitable frame.

Haha thanks team. I know I had my heart set on it but knew it not to be. Any chrome/plain metal frames you’d recommend for a single speed? I’ll save the Alan frame for a full build

Interesting.... looks like your frame has slightly nicer forks and smaller rear dropouts than the MBK.
Either way, it's a great build - shame the clearances aren't a little bigger but otherwise it looks like an awesome winter mile-muncher. I've never seen Sora cranks looking so good!
