• I need new wiper blades for my Volvo. Is there a go to brand? Don't mind spending a bit extra for something that's going to last but don't want to go fancy for the sake of it. God that's a dull question.

  • as noone else has stepped in I will give you an equally dull answer having replaced the wipers on my old bimmer this year.

got cheap wipers on ebay having double and triple checked type of fastener required. the ones I got only half worked and ended up using zip ties as back up. they lasted for a bit but never fitted brilliantly. then upgraded to Bosch (from ebay seller again) and the wipers came with two different fastening mechanisms. one snapped off on installation.

this shit aint rocket science and plenty of youtube vids to show how.

but got fucked off and then just local halfords autocentre. piss easy booking system and they did the job in less than two mins (which is all it should take) and charged four quid on top of the wipers. paid 29 all in.

in future I will go straight to Halfords again rather than trying to save a few quid

  • I just installed updated Bosch wiper blade upgrades to two cars. Quick and easy on modern VW/Audi cars.

  • Bought Bosch Aerotwin. Deffo worth buying the new style wiper like these - so much more effective.

  • The tip/edge on the rubber? in the blades does last that long through use and UV degradation.

I've bought in the last 18months I have 'bought' bosch, valeo, trico and michellin for others and bought them from car parts places or usually supermarket/hypermarket with long opening times. Mixture of flat blade and usual depending on stock.

Last ones I bought for me were RAC brand flat blade wipers from B&M. Cheap at usually less than a £5 a pair. Last about 18 months, same as the expensive brands as GF uses the wipers to clean off frost, bird poo etc. The screen and wipers are regularly cleaned as I hate having poor vision.
