I actually feel really bad for making the comment! :)
Nothing as worse as second guessing the work you have done. I know theoretically it should be able to work out, but I'd make it as strong as possible. A loaded bike on a kickstand can have significant forces pulling at it. The solution with a bigger plate would spread it out even more, which would also work. But then again, your solution should also work as-is.
Also I work in a rather challenging industrial environment, everything we design has to withstand apocalyptic mistreatment by the users and has to be as strong as possible. You wouldn't believe the things I see on a daily basis.

Maybe I can use what I already have done by adding two more bosses and making a bigger mounting plate with four holes
