Try a baby wipe 👍

Poor form from LBS. Muc Off and a soft lint free rag works well, as does dish soap and warm water. If the grips are old and sticky you’ll have a tougher time. Avoid using too much force or you’ll break down the grips quicker.

They didn't true the wheel very well either. I think they broke two spokes.
I might go and have a moan, but I don't want to be that miserable middle aged man who makes a fuss.

Nah, do it. If I worked on a bike and I let it go back to its owner in a shitty condition, I deserve to be called out on it.

Just dont shake hands with the mechanic ! A soak in glow white may do it.

Isopropyl alcohol, or id just be grumpy and take it back.
Whenever dealing with white. / light coloured tape, grips saddles they always get wrapped in film

I was grumpy and took it back. They said they did as well as they could with the wheel, and cleaned the grips very nicely whilst I waited (outside).
The bloke who helped seemed to have a bit of a strop on, which was odd seeing as it was them who made them filthy in the first place.
I only went there because my normal nearer one is shut until January. Live and learn I suppose.
Thanks for all the tips

Any business that isn't concerned with repeat business, likely doesn't warrant your business.

Wouldn’t take it personally. Unless he was rude to you, if he’s not the mechanic then I reckon he’s cursing the mechanic for creating more work for him.

I rode the empty rear pedals into some street furniture on my way off home
Dignified I was not

That’s what you want from the lbs right, if you didn’t want to feel like you were causing someone problems you’d just shop online eh?!
I took my tandem to get the rear wheel trued at the LBS. They gave it back with filthy white grips.
Any tips on cleaning?
I'll have
