Next project in the pipeline. A straight up road bike with etap and Enve 2.0 forks.
Spirit throughout except for a T45 wishbone and max toptube.Three tricky bits:
38mm downtube which I don't have tube clamps for.
Max toptube which I am working on how to hold properly in the mill.
Engraved head tube.

Your little one appears to not be so little anymore.
Yet again, another interesting project to follow. -

Yeah time is passing so quickly right now

I have been working on mounting a kickstand on my wife's Kona. Came up with a design that allows me to remove the kickstand plate later on when baby duties and the need for a heavy kickstand is no longer.

I thought of that exact kickstand idea for my dadbike, but with rivnuts as I have an alu frame.
Did not follow through as I thought it wouldn't be stong enough to hold as the only contact point is on the bottom of the chainstay tubing. Was advised to go completely through the tube which is not possible with rivnuts.
I'm a big fan of your work, but seeing this I actually do think you should make a bushing that goes all the way through the chainstays. Making it possible to braze both top and bottom of the bushing to the complete height of the chainstay.

Thanks. I understand your concern.
I have bored out 10mm diameter for both bottle cage bosses. This allows the mounting plate to be pulled all the way down to the chainstays. The forces of the kickstand will be spread onto the chainstays instead of going into the bottle cage bosses. I think/feel/hope.
Also silver is amazingly strong.
But I'll think it over and maybe do as you suggest. On the other hand the consequences of this failing is minimal and I'd like to know if it will work know... Hmmm

Maybe I can use what I already have done by adding two more bosses and making a bigger mounting plate with four holes

As always impressive work, who's the lucky future etap equiped road bike owner?
I wouldn't say that I know anything about engineering, but I think that the clamping force that LeMesjeu is suggesting might be a good idea. Might also be better suited to stand up vibrations if the stand is heavy?

Yes. It makes sense

Working on this road frame

Looks good - like a cross between Brommers Bike #2 and #4. I'd consider switching the top tube the other way round though, particularly if that's a 44mm headtube. I know it's the 'wrong' way, but with a fat headtube and a relatively skinny seat tube I think it looks better if the wider end of the Max top tube as at the HT end and the narrower section at the ST end.

Depends on your perspective I guess. En profil I think Hulsroy's design looks better.

I have to agree 😂

Chacun a son truc! How are you going to cap the sides of the Max top tube where it extends beyond the width of the seat tube?

Fish mouth style..
Edit: like dropouts you know. Fill it with brass

A mix between these:

I actually feel really bad for making the comment! :)
Nothing as worse as second guessing the work you have done. I know theoretically it should be able to work out, but I'd make it as strong as possible. A loaded bike on a kickstand can have significant forces pulling at it. The solution with a bigger plate would spread it out even more, which would also work. But then again, your solution should also work as-is.
Also I work in a rather challenging industrial environment, everything we design has to withstand apocalyptic mistreatment by the users and has to be as strong as possible. You wouldn't believe the things I see on a daily basis.
