My mate was astounded that I’d spent 2.6k on my e46.
“You can get m3s for a grand!” He exclaimed. I tried to explain that the likelihood of proper maintenance was slim to none, and that big bills/MOT fails would be on the horizon.
Need to show him that. The actual cost of a decent e46, with that kind of mileage.

Probably the old Hydrolastic suspension, similar to my Dad's old Austin 1300 of the same era, I remember the hydraulics were split left and right, you would often see one driving down the road lopsided where one side had leaked pressure :D

Screw, £27 later and holding pressure again. Now I just need to inflate the tyre to the correct Kpa, as Kwik-Fit decided not to do that.

Oh Chris what did you do...

Apart from the scuff on the rear bumper, it's just broken two of the mounts on the front bumper (which have been plastic welded back on previously) and unclipped the two front body kit parts.
I fixed it with zip ties and racers tape and kept going.

Not really sure why this happened, it snapped sideways on an off camber downhill left hander over a brow with no warning, tagged the fence post with the rear bumper and spun it into the ditch.
The in car video is quite dramatic.

Oil on the road obviously.
Standard excuse.

Link please. Lol. Glad the car/you live to race another day!

Glad you and the car are ok. Probably needs more power to balance it.

Could genuinely have been fuel spilt on the rear left tyre

That looks like the usual resting place of 205's that's have caught the driver out with a bit of lift off oversteer. Glad it's just a few zip ties and new undies.

I think watching the in car back there is something wrong with the brake bias, it seems to lock the rears up in the braking point and it's like ripping the handbrake at 60kmh
-
• #60921
just glad no real harm done. To you or the car. reckon stuff will be learned from it too

Yep never a failure always a lesson.
Few jobs over christmas to do now, one being swapping the fuel tank to see if i can cure the fuel surge that's appeared

Ouch. I did that going into Druids at Brands years ago. I'd fitted (borrowed) high friction pads at the front, as I'd cooked my front pads, so wound the brake bias backwards to compensate. When I fitted matching high friction pads at the rear to match, I forgot to reset the brake bias. Cue one 70mph handbrake turn into the barriers...

Ohhh. Definitely would have caught you by surprise. Would scare the crap outta me!

Ouch. Hope they were soft barriers.
Pretty much, although it's a laser... needs line of sight. So this mostly means it will be used on motorways and A roads that have significant straight sections.
I mean, if I had this equipment and wanted to catch people speeding... this is perfect for parking on bridges over a motorway and getting even more line of sight, or of detecting people on a really long downhill section.
The gun is cheap too... £10k-ish... it would be earned back in an short period of time. So I can imagine it would be prevalent through all police forces really quickly.
It's pretty neat... now the combination of smart motorways with average speed checking and lots of cameras with this type of long-distance speed trap, means that the roads will be slower but also safer.
