Pretty much, although it's a laser... needs line of sight. So this mostly means it will be used on motorways and A roads that have significant straight sections.

I mean, if I had this equipment and wanted to catch people speeding... this is perfect for parking on bridges over a motorway and getting even more line of sight, or of detecting people on a really long downhill section.

The gun is cheap too... £10k-ish... it would be earned back in an short period of time. So I can imagine it would be prevalent through all police forces really quickly.

It's pretty neat... now the combination of smart motorways with average speed checking and lots of cameras with this type of long-distance speed trap, means that the roads will be slower but also safer.
