@Constable_Savage If it is registered VW Beetle Allegro they may have made the kit car using the Beetle chassis and running gear, easy to lower by reconfiguring the splined spring set up.
But Allegro of all things they were nicknamed 'All Aggro' for a reason :)

i used to get a lift to work in a mates old Allegro back in the day.

the ride was bouncier than on the old metropolitan underground line rolling stock.

he loved that car which was completely 'stock'

Probably the old Hydrolastic suspension, similar to my Dad's old Austin 1300 of the same era, I remember the hydraulics were split left and right, you would often see one driving down the road lopsided where one side had leaked pressure :D
