I made this comment to some twat on Twitter earlier, got called a “bike ponce” in response (due to my profile picture I assume).

I find this kind of thing almost Python-esque. Like, the captain of the navy ship ordering his men to battlestations and setting a ramming course.

Is that meant to be a serious, meaningful threat - that the Navy are going spend time and resources chasing individual small French crabbing boats.

Ireland has the navy helping out with fishing enforcement not sure how busy it is with that and what success rate is. It is a thing.

Scotland has seen two referendums on sovereignty in our very recent past. I voted in both. I had a democratic choice in both.

Kind of. Or everyone is stuck with the Tories because the Scottish are choosing SNP over Labour.

It surprised me during the EU ref that no lessons had been learned from the indie ref. The complacency of the unionists until the last week when project fear was launched after the polls suggested a yes vote was possible. This same complacency was seen in the last week before the EU ref.

Its pretty much how the cod wars in the 70s happened. Normal to enforce your waters with the navy. After all defence is the first responsibility of government.
