One of the Wald range probably simpler then, and they are great. There are a few different models so might be worth looking at sizes to get a rough idea of what will fit in the space between front wheel/mudguard and the level of the bars (allowing more for big loops of cables etc).

If you have a front rack already, or can get a reasonably priced one, the IKEA Pleja basket zip-tied on works well. I've got one bike with that on, and one with a Wald 198 - they are equally good for carrying, the same footprint so my bag is transferable, but the 198 is slightly deeper and comes with its own mounting hardware.
