  • If you have a front rack already, or can get a reasonably priced one, the IKEA Pleja basket zip-tied on works well. I've got one bike with that on, and one with a Wald 198 - they are equally good for carrying, the same footprint so my bag is transferable, but the 198 is slightly deeper and comes with its own mounting hardware.

Obviously just ditch the divider etc.

  • No front rack.

It's a recommendation for a friend, so some thing straight forward and OTP.

Also is "the" Wald, the Wald 1352 Medium Plus Basket? I didn't actually realise there were a whole load.

  • One of the Wald range probably simpler then, and they are great. There are a few different models so might be worth looking at sizes to get a rough idea of what will fit in the space between front wheel/mudguard and the level of the bars (allowing more for big loops of cables etc).

Quite a few showing out of stock/other suppliers might have some

  • A point to note- Wald specifically state your friend will crash and burn if their basket is used with a QR front wheel. It has to be a "nutted" axle if you're going for dropout mounting.
