    Don't really agree about the longevity of synthetic stuff though, I've been through maybe half a dozen synthetic (gore, et cetera) jackets and they all leaked. When brought to the attention of the retailer or maker, if there was a guarantee they simply replaced them. End of life issues with plastics concern me.

  • Yeah that's super frustrating. Not sure what normal warranties are these days but my Gore jacket started leaking after about 4 years (it was never perfect to start with). It'd had a good run so for the last 5 years i've been using it for gardening or lying under the car. I'm having a jacket sale atm and realised i didn't have a shell for riding so i dug out the Gore for a wet commute and it was fine tbh. I'll still be looking for a new shell but the Gore will remain with me as leaking issues aside it's bulletproof. And this is from a die hard minimalist who hates having too much stuff.
