I can appreciate that the proponents of brexit don't want to be tied into EU regulatory systems. That wasn't supposedly a major reason for leaving (after the racism and xenophobia obvsly).
I'm shocked that the UK's bargaining position doesn't appear to be as strong as they claimed.
The issue is that the EU regulations are fundamentally right and the UK government doesn't want to be forced to maintain either current or future standards.
The most logical explanation for Brexit is to allow the UK economy to continue to act as the Worlds best money laundering and off-shore tax avoidance centre.
EU legislation will hinder these dubious activities.
