  • I don't understand what you did there. is that plaster? Sheetrock? Dry wall? I can't tell.

    usually when repairing large holes one would have mesh to support the mud, or replace a section of the drywall and then tape and sand the edges.

  • Plaster and an external wall.

    The plastering to fill the big hole part went ok, it's the trying to get it all smooth afterwards which is the ballache.

    It looks a lot better after sanding but there's still bits around the sockets which I'm struggling to get right.

  • so there's lath there under the plaster? that's a complex fix usually with working with the lath.

    you can skim coat joint over the plaster compound. easier to finish.

    sorry I'll bow out. I think I'm confused.
