  • Impressive. How much was that?

  • My 33oz soso insane jeans arrived. I have to say they did an amazing job with them but probably wouldn’t recommend them unless you’re a chainsaw juggler or live somewhere very cold.

  • £25 plus postage either way

  • That's very good value for money I'd say. Probably doesn't take more than 15-20 mins to fix for them, but when I've done it's been a good hour or two from start to finish

  • Daniel Rebour said something along the lines of “Why does my work cost so much when it only took 30 minutes? Because it actually took 30 years.”

  • postage

How much did that come to out of curiosity?

Son of Stag are ~£40 and were convenient for me before Covid, but £25 is obviously a lot less.

Not really in the theme of this thread, but after a wash I'm loving my 501 "skate" jeans. Originally picked up from TKMax to use as dad jeans because I thought having Cordura would make them last longer. All the seams and vulnerable bits are reinforced too, so I am hopeful. Plus there are surprising random nice touches like lined rear pockets.

Still haven't found a parental use for the hidden stash pocket.

  • Apologies if this should be in a Jeggings thread.

I'm after a nice pair of slim (ish) fit jeans with a bit of stretch in them. I have short legs, big calves and a smallish waist (30 sometimes 28). Something decent quality not made in a sweat shop would be nice. I don't want them tight on my legs but slim generally looks best on me and I'd like the stretch for movement/comfort.

It's been a while since I bought any jeans but from memory Nudie were all too tight, Levi's/Edwin have never fitted me very well and my Pherrows raw denim were too stiff/tight. Finisterre look like they have some nice cuts but all out of stock in my size.

    Any suggestions?

  • I have a pair of Svensson Magnus Thure selvedge. They have a bit of stretch. I'm normally a 31-32 but these are way too tight for me.

Picked them up for peanuts so happy with just postage from Sweden for them if you're interested?

  • Thanks for the offer, they look very slim in the leg, what size waist are they?

  • Think they were last mentioned a few years ago but Twins dry cleaners on D'Arblay Street in Soho fix up blown out crotches for less than a tenner. Allegedly they do all the fixes for Nudie store on the corner.

  • I've used them a few times, fix is exactly the same as pictured above with the denim doctor, think it's around £8 a pair, usually drop them a few pairs in together so never really paid attention.

  • 34x32 but silly tight, I'd say they're more a 31. I can measure this evening

  • Slim/stretch is over, unless you are taking a cheap punt on a mid 2020s revival

(But the only real answer is to go to a shop with a decent range and try them on)

  • Oni do a 15oz Stretch denim in a number of cuts. Relaxed tapered which appear fairly slim below but Denimio look to have stock of other cuts. Nice but pricey.

  • Uniqlo for affordable with a bit of stretch. Not skinny.

  • Just looking for a nice pair jeans with some give that fit me well. I like the baggier look but it looks crap on me (plus is it me or have the Joey Essex mob stolen California classic skate cuts?).

Unfortunately very few shops letting people try jeans on ATM.

  • Acne jeans would be another option - they're not selvedge but have a variety of fits/cuts/colours

  • These are bang on but yeah, £300 from SOAS is a bit rich. EDIT: just seen Denimio do free worldwide shipping, i'll put them on the list.

Also what's the consensus with rolling up black denim? I find a roll up often tapers jeans nicely under my calves but with trad indigo selvedge denim it also serves to visually shorten the my already stumpy legs. Black denim tends to work better as the inner matches the outer but i'm not sure if from a denim perspective looks shit?

  • Suspect they're not gonna be right for me but thanks again for the offer.

  • I've totally moved away from rollups - I have short legs and getting jeans taken to the right length was a game changer. Some more relaxed jeans I still have rollups. Nice pair of black jeans will look much better finished at the right length.

  • for avoidance of doubt, correct length

  • I've been trying to adopt the floating just above the shoe look but don't seem to get it right. Not sure i'm ready for the Clarkson Cowboy look.

  • Anyone heard of these guys? Found 'em when I googled 15 oz chinos.
They do a semi-custom thing for not a bad price.

  • Never heard of them but I’d happily look through the site all day... loads of bits I’d happily purchase if I could try it on first... loving the 18oz chinos
