Filling and smoothing my wall went as badly as expected. Bumpy as shit and each time I tried to rectify it I made it a bit worse. Going to have a try with a sander and some fine grit sandpaper to see if it can be retrieved.
I don't understand what you did there. is that plaster? Sheetrock? Dry wall? I can't tell.
usually when repairing large holes one would have mesh to support the mud, or replace a section of the drywall and then tape and sand the edges.
Plaster and an external wall.
The plastering to fill the big hole part went ok, it's the trying to get it all smooth afterwards which is the ballache.
It looks a lot better after sanding but there's still bits around the sockets which I'm struggling to get right.
