• Conti GP5k got a small sidewall tear that I sealed up mid ride, then glued later. After a couple of rides the glue gave up and then this last week I couldn't get it to stay up more than 5k. Got the plugs out and popped one in, got me home. Put some pressure in, couple of days later go into the shed to a jizzy puddle under the tire and the plug has come out.
I've tried popping another plug in, superglue Etc. and the Sealant keeps kind of dribbling out but not properly sealing.
    Is the tire done for?

  • My last plug only worked after it had been squished into the tyre. I believe it bonds with the rubber at that point

Although mine was in the contact patch rather than the sidewall. May make more sense to boot the tyre

  • Those rema tip top tubeless tyre repair patches are what you need.

  • then glued later

    Why would you do this?

I'm no chemist but how do you know the glue you've used doesn't interfere with the bond between sealant, tyre, and plug?

  • In relation to the size of the tyre I'd say this is f***ked. Did you see what it was?
