  • Can anyone confirm if this headset is the right one for a new Stroma frame please?
    https://m.bikester.co.uk/cane-creek-40-headset-tapered-zs44-286-i-ec44-40-black-564017.html

    Frame specs from https://www.brothercycles.com/shop/frames/stroma/

    “ Headset: 44mm, ZS44/28.6 upper, EC44/40 lower (not included)”

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Chris King tho

  • Thanks for the confirmation @PhilDAS, much appreciated. I’m spending someone else’s money so I’m second guessing myself.
RE: Chris King: Well I’m building it up with/for a friend- his bike, his money so the budget is out of my hands regrettably. I’ve got a Genesis Equilibrium newly built up that will see a CK headset when the stock one starts giving me problems though.
That does remind me though, I should pop a photo in the Genesis thread of that build.
    Thanks chaps!

  • I’m joking of course.

In another update. I’m setting personal hill climb PB’s on the Stroma in full winter mode running 700x32 tubeless.

    🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Oh no worries mate, I took it as a joke! Nice work on the PB’s!

  • Had my eye on a big bro for a while now. Noticed the '21 model will have boost spacing.
Although I know what boost spacing is, what real difference will it make for the rider?

  • Frankenbike in Hackney Wick have a brand new 56 Kepler frame/forks with an unfortunate dent in the top tube. I forgot to ask how much it was, but it'll be cheaper than one without a dent.

  • Stronger wheel build I think? Also stiffer I guess. Mainly more expensive though let's be honest.

  • I think the main advantage will be better chain/tyre clearance with 3.0 tyre, enabling 3.0 with 2x drivetrain if one wishes.

  • Big bro on eBay. Decent price and build.

  • I have fitted 2.0 up front easy with the carbon fork, rears fit but rubbing, so with a different rim wider internal might work

  • Anyone know how the sizing is on the big bro compared to Kepler?

Got a 60cm kepler but have long legs, 710mm saddle too handlebars

  • That rack looks comically tiny!!

  • anyone fit front rack to an all day fork?

a friend tried the cheap sjs canti one, i tried the nitto m14, neither fit nicely

am i forced to get something large and modular?

just want something to carry my basket and bag

  • I have success with the velo orange canti one. You’ll have to infer from the poor res on the photo whether you think it’s a good fit though...

  • ooooh that's pretty tidy, did it take any "persuasion" or just bolt on?

  • Nope - easy peasy.

    Mudguards on the other hand...

  • excellent thank you,

mmmm i @edscoble says mudguards on the frames are a faff too,

luckily my fork is going on a pomp :eyes:

  • Going for that several sizes too big look as well?

  • Excellent bike.

  • Not intentionally, I'm just all legs. Does it really look that big though?

  • The box is obviously several sizes too big.
