Illegal in the UK and EU for a commercial trader though.

Komoot is my favourite. If you have the route file already you can import it, or it's easy to create exact routes using the app or desktop site.

it being illegal to offer two prices? but ok to put the price up to £28 and sell it either for cash or via card transaction, rather than cash only for £25

Yes. Retailers aren't allow to charge extra depending on the payment method used. They can limit the form of payment methods they'll accept, but whatever forms of payment they do accept have to be all for the same price.

No problem there. As long as they don't then turn round and say 'yeahbutnobut £25 cash is fine'.

Wasn’t there a loophole that retailers could offer discounts for cash payment? £28 all forms of payment (incl. card), but £25 for specifically cash type deal?

Paragraph 13.3 of the government's latest guidance on the point would suggest not.

Thanks @freezing77 and @jackincaves. I'll probably start with Komoot as it seems the most user-friendly.

debit cards are cheaper than credit cards but both charge the merchant a percent on each transaction

Thanks for supplying a source 👍. Funnily enough, the wording seems to create a loophole within the loophole it intended to close.

We use iZettle for Tri club swim fees etc, and Paypal and Stripe (charity rates) for website stuff
iZettle charge 1.75%
Stripe charge 1.2% + 20p
Paypal I think are similar, maybe 1.4% +20pWe're a charity though. Before then I think Paypal was about 2.9% +20p
So it costs us up to 55p for a £25 transaction
it used to cost us about 93p -

Is the best budget front basket still Wald?
(for supermarket trips on a hybrid not to win raddavist)
Also if you had to pick between fixing to the mid fork rack mounts vs dropout rack mounts, which would you choose?
Cheers

Mid-fork for aesthetics/insta points, dropout for load-bearing.

If you have a front rack already, or can get a reasonably priced one, the IKEA Pleja basket zip-tied on works well. I've got one bike with that on, and one with a Wald 198 - they are equally good for carrying, the same footprint so my bag is transferable, but the 198 is slightly deeper and comes with its own mounting hardware.

Obviously just ditch the divider etc.
Pic of the Pleja on a Metro Porteur (I think) rack.

Counters at each door.

Infrared counters on doors, but more likely to be point weighing on the carriages.
What train is that, its annoying me that I cant tell?! lol

No front rack.
It's a recommendation for a friend, so some thing straight forward and OTP.
Also is "the" Wald, the Wald 1352 Medium Plus Basket? I didn't actually realise there were a whole load.
-
• #106073
One of the Wald range probably simpler then, and they are great. There are a few different models so might be worth looking at sizes to get a rough idea of what will fit in the space between front wheel/mudguard and the level of the bars (allowing more for big loops of cables etc).
Quite a few showing out of stock/other suppliers might have some

Depends on the train. Either pressure sensors on the air suspension, sensors on the doors or CCTV image analysis. I suspect the latter for that level of detail.
ok so selling a £25 cash item for £28 to cover card fees isnt too outrageous
