Def fixable as my 6 year old Edge 500 is on its second case for exactly this reason. First one I had in 2011 was replaced by Garmin for a ‘refurb’ which was actually brand new for £60 after 3 years and out of warranty.
Got salvaged case on eBay and swapped over innards and put a silicon case on it so rubber wont wear out ever again.

Now collected. Ta!
I've used this for years and it's internals are still going strong, but the power button rubber cracked and fell away. I spent a few months turning it off and on by pushing a key or a stick in there, but now that's given way too. I've ordered a new one, but anyone handy is welcome to try and get this one working.
