How does a guy with a BMW X3 with 2 tail pipes get a free GT triple triangle?
This. And what would a 53 plate Berlingo held together with gaffa tape qualify me for?

Because when you install a 2nd tail pipe the government give you a free bike token for a 2nd hand bike.
When you get to 10 tail pipes then you get your new gravel bike for free.

Glad I wasn’t alone in wondering this.

This is all sounding very off key. Do people have to prove how deserving they are of charity/gifts??
"Give people bikes to get them out of cars"
"No, don't give them the good ones, they don't deserve those..."Slippery slope.

Ummm... Sometimes yes. All good and well being altruistic but sometimes you do. If it's a charity giving to the needy and you suspect something, yes. If you give something to someone that could've gone to someone moee in need are you wrong asking questions?

What if you know find it on gumtree being sold cause you ignored your gut?
-

Never heard that before, it should be "give people bikes who can't afford them as an alternative to reduced public transport"
-
• #15159
What do you suspect? An X3 isn't exactly a flash motor. They can be picked up for much less than a lot of people here spend on bikes.
-
• #15160
What makes you think that's going to happen?
-
• #15161
Why point out they drive an x3 in the first place?
-
• #15162
To show what's being taken off the road occasionally by the act.

Guess that's why I don't work in a charity

Fwiw bitd charity bike donations were often to help remove the barrier of no transport for employment opportunities. It'd make sense imo for this to remain priority over gifting bikes to reduce car usage, although it'd be interesting to see if car usage does reduce when folks are gifted a bike. Defo more likely to be the case with that GT than if he'd been given a Big Daddy Rooster or Argos Cheesebrake 26, or even perhaps a Dawes Galaxy.
Either way more bike journeys less car journeys is defo better.
P.s. I reckon that my 53 plate Berlingo would net me either a Cervelo T4 or Curly Hetchins innit, pm me when ready pls.

Big Daddy Rooster or Argos Cheesebrake 26
These sound like two fantastic bikes
-

I made one of them up, but bet it'd sell well.
I reckon the Big Daddy Rooster frames must be cast from Tungsten they weigh that much.

Great job!
One less car in the road. One driver, who when he does get behind the wheel, will be more respectful of cyclists. One more person who may just enjoy riding bikes as a result of your kind gesture.

This is the first of the NHS workers I've given a bike to, who will be ditching the car as a direct result of getting a free bike. The fact it is a large, heavy, dangerous type of car
made it a win. I often feel intimidated by these vehicles and the way they are driven, so it was good to have a positive experience with a driver. The project began in the first lockdown, I had a couple spare bikes knocking around and passed them on. Was prompted to help NHS workers specifically after stories of people on night shifts having bikes nicked.
All the bikes are one-off donations, this lovely GT just happened to be the best size I had for Chesney.

You'll be lucky :)
Sorry for all the confusion! I forgot to mention the NHS project. All started here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/345463/

So, it turns out NOT everyone who drives a Lamborghini with a personalised number plate is a massive wanker.

I didn't see the word "not" the first time I read your post so the article really confused me for a while.
How does a guy with a BMW X3 with 2 tail pipes get a free GT triple triangle?
Anyway, hope he rides it.
